AVST at the ACUTA Winter Seminar in Orlando

AVST at the ACUTA Winter Seminar in Orlando

The New Year brings fresh developments, opportunities and a new schedule of seminars and trade shows for AVST. First up this year, ACUTA (Association for College & University Technology Advancement) is hosting their winter seminar with a focus on  advancing communication and collaboration technologies for higher education. The two principle tracks for ACUTA, January 8-11 in Orlando, Florida will be:

Digital Libraries, Digital Specialists

The Ever-Evolving World of Telephony

The move from analog to VoIP, from handsets to softphones, involve more than a technology change. This track focuses on how communication services have changed and how to integrate new technologies into existing infrastructures.

Intense Connectivity, Dense Deployments and Seasonal Spikes

Demand for mobile communications capabilities continue to grow on campuses across the country. Students, staff and faculty alike expect to use the applications on their own smartphones. These applications are being integrated into campus and sports venues, while faculty use them for real-time interaction with large student populations.

  • Track 2: The Ever-Evolving World of Telephony
  • Millennials at Work: Creating a Mobile First, Digital Environment

Most campuses have a desire to accelerate their use of smartphones, mobile messaging, social networks, and apps —elements of the technology millennials have grown up with. Colleges and universities that adopt mobile communications technologies obtain a competitive advantage in engaging and retaining their faculty and staff. AVST’s presentation at ACUTA will explore the impact and benefits of adopting mobile first UC technologies in higher education, with a specific focus on millennials. The session will be recorded for video streaming.
