Nortel Investment Protection Program - Video Center

Hardy Myers shares how Nortel customers can future proof their investments with the industry's most extensive telephony and groupware interoperability capabilities built into CallXpress.

1. Why is AVST in such a unique position to help Nortel customers?

So we've approached this Nortel situation from a different angle. The first thing we did is we put ourselves in the seats of Nortel customers and said, "what are the issues we would have, our concerns. And then what would be the optimal solution for other manufacturers to deliver?" And so when you look at the AVST Nortel Investment Protection Program, what you see is a well thought out program that enables a customer not only to protect their existing Nortel investments, but also gives them that future-proofing assurance that they'll have the ability to change the technology in the future if they decide that the future of Nortel is not the future that they want to embrace.

2. Why should a Nortel customer consider CallXpress?

As I think many of you know, the Nortel situation is problematic for a lot of customers. Frankly, you know, the division's up for sale, which is a tragedy in and of itself, and customers are, you know, concerned about what's going to happen with the future of Nortel. They're looking for ways to protect their existing Nortel investment, while maintaining the ability to move forward, possibly with alternative technology in the future. Frankly, there is no better solution than the AVST CallXpress platform for giving a customer, first and foremost, the best investment protection for their existing Nortel technology because we integrate with that today, and you get best of breed applications that work in that environment. And then, more importantly, because of the interoperability, we also enable a customer to have that comfort, or that future-proofing assurance, that they'll be able to acquire whatever new technology that they decide in the future, if they decide that the Nortel future is not something they want to support.

3. How can a large enterprise Nortel customer benefit from CallXpress?

Well, we have one very large consumer products company, which was originally all Nortel infrastructure with Octel Voicemail Systems. And their goal was over three years to transition to a Cisco telephony infrastructure. And the AVST CallXpress platform really became the enabler to allow that customer to transition from a Nortel digital environment to a Cisco IP telephony environment.

4. Why is CallXpress the ideal legacy voicemail replacement?

CallXpress is the ideal voicemail legacy replacement product because it's been specifically engineered to enable enterprises to transition from TDM or digital telephony technology to IP telephony technology at the own pace based on their ability to make additional investments, access to capital, etcetera. Further, what we've done over the past five years is engineer all the legacy telephone user interfaces into the products. There is no better product on the market to complete that mission, if you will, than the CallXpress platform.

5. Describe AVST as a company

AVST, at its core, is a software engineering company. With our focus being on communications and transforming the communications of an enterprise, and we've been doing that for almost three decades. And the focus of that is our product, the CallXpress Unified Communications platform. And it's got, literally, as I mentioned, three decades of engineering in the product. It's running on the most current databases. It has open APIs, and it supports pretty much any telephony or groupware environment that a customer might have.
