Active Voice Launches its New Kinesis Unified Communications Solution
True Unified Messaging Solution Supports Microsoft® Exchange®5.5 and 2000
Active Voice's Kinesis product uses the power and reliability of Microsoft Exchange 5.5 and 2000, along with Windows®2000, to deliver voice mail and unified messaging into a Microsoft BackOffice® environment. The Kinesis solution gives users the ability to access their voice, fax and e-mail messages from the Microsoft Outlook® inbox, where the information can be managed via the telephone, desktop computer or Web browser.

With the Kinesis solution, users can efficiently access and manage their daily communications from the PC, telephone or Internet in a variety of ways. Kinesis offers Active Voice's ViewCall® module that allows users to handle live telephone traffic from the desktop. In addition, Kinesis integrates with third party fax applications to let users direct fax messages to the nearest fax machine. Users can also access their calendars and listen and reply to e-mail using the latest Text-to-Speech technology. The Kinesis web assistant allows users to customize their personal mailbox settings from the desktop, or by using the telephone user interface. With increased message access and real-time call control, business professionals are able to quickly share information with co-workers and promptly respond to customers' needs.
Unlike most other unified messaging solutions available today, Active Voice's Kinesis product is convergence-ready. "Kinesis works with traditional telephone systems, which protects your current investment, and it works with the new IP telephone systems, which protects your investment in the future," said Foia. "Equally important, Kinesis can work with both types of telephone systems simultaneously, making for a smooth transition to IP telephony." Kinesis supports both traditional and IP telephone systems including those offered by leading switch vendors such as NEC, Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, Nortel and Panasonic.
In addition, the Kinesis product offers clustering, which facilitates redundancy, provides sharing of resources and features, and enables system scalability. "With clustering, Kinesis can scale from four to several hundred ports, which is critical for supporting small businesses to very large enterprises and multi-site corporations," said Foia.
