Active Voice Announces Newest Version of its Repartee® LX Unified Messaging Solution

New Product Version Supports Intel® Telecom Boards, Dell™ Platform, Web-based System Administration Console, and Fax Capabilities

Seattle, Washington, USA—July 28, 2004—Active Voice, LLC, a global provider of unified messaging, computer telephony, and voice messaging solutions, today announced the newest version of its Repartee® LX unified messaging solution. Repartee LX version 8.1 offers customers a Web-based system administration console, fax capabilities and customizable ordering options. In addition, the new product is built on standards-based telecom building blocks from Intel® and a Dell™ platform.

The Repartee LX system leverages the inherent operating efficiencies, user-intuitiveness, and price advantage of the Linux operating system. Repartee LX is an ideal solution for small- to midsized organizations with heavy telephone traffic, such as those in the hotel/lodging, education and healthcare industries. With Repartee LX, office workers and mobile employees can manage their communications conveniently over the telephone or from a networked PC. Industry research shows that the Linux market is growing at a faster rate than any other platform, according to Marcel Nienhuis, market analyst for The Radicati Group, Inc. Over the past 12 months, Linux sales have increased over 50% and this trend is expected to intensify over the course of the next few years.

Stable and Reliable Platform
Repartee LX version 8.1 offers customers a stable and reliable solution built upon solid hardware components. The new Repartee LX product supports Universal PCI versions of Intel® Dialogic® voice and fax boards using the Linux operating system, including the D4PCI, D120JCT-LS, D42JCT-U, D82JCT-U, and VFX41JCT-LS. These hardware enhancements allow customers to take advantage of expanded port capacity, fax messaging and digital integrations for popular Avaya, Mitel, Nortel, and Siemens telephone systems. Customers also have the option of purchasing a Repartee LX system with a Dell™ OptiPlex™ GX60 platform or an alternative PC that meets minimum system requirements.

“It is part of our core business strategy to work with innovative companies like Intel who are industry leaders in the growing Linux market,” said Mike Prescott, Active Voice’s vice president of marketing. “With this latest product release, we focused our efforts on hardware enhancements that would help to improve the stability and reliability of the Repartee LX system. By combining a strong Dell platform and high quality Intel boards with our proven software, we are delivering a solid unified messaging solution that customers can build upon as their business grows and communication needs change.”

“By building the Repartee LX system on Intel® standards-based building blocks, Active Voice has been able to deliver a robust unified messaging solution running on Linux to the marketplace,” said Sandra Rivera, director of marketing, Network Building Block Division, Intel. “With this flexible, reliable solution, system owners can deploy additional features offered through digital integration, such as Caller ID and Call Routing, to their existing PBX infrastructure, without the added expense of proprietary hardware and software.”

Simplified System Maintenance
In addition to hardware enhancements, the Repartee LX version 8.1 product offers a new Web-based administration console that allows system administrators to set-up and maintain the Repartee LX system quickly and easily. The console boasts a new look-and-feel, including a more modern design with familiar application screens that make navigation and administration much simpler. At a glance, administrators can set-up accounts for new users and groups and run reports using intuitive toolbars and menu options. Moreover, the new Web-based console allows administrators to maintain the Repartee LX system on-site or from a remote location, saving valuable time and maintenance costs.

Flexible Options
Repartee LX users can now experience desktop fax messaging through Active Voice’s ActiveFax® and ViewFax® modules, giving users a powerful combination of voice mail, automated attendant, and complete facsimile functions. ActiveFax stores incoming faxes electronically, sends them to any fax machine the subscriber chooses, and allows mobile workers to conveniently retrieve their fax messages remotely. ViewFax lets users manage their faxes from their PC, giving users more control over all documents while helping to preserve security and privacy.

The new Repartee LX product also offers Cantonese prompts and support for serial/PMS (Property Management System) integrations for the hospitality market. Customers can purchase Repartee LX version 8.1 systems as either complete turnkey systems or in new port packages that include software, documentation and system key for 2-40 port configurations. This new customizable ordering process will provide customers with more flexibility, integration and hardware options. Customers can also upgrade their current Repartee product to Repartee LX. “We remain committed to helping to protect the investment our loyal customers have made in our legacy products by offering them a smooth migration to Repartee LX,” added Prescott.

The new Repartee LX product is available through Active Voice’s reseller channel, strategic partners and international offices in the Netherlands and Australia.
