Unified Communications Gets Practical: An Educational Webinar from AVST

Leading Provider of Unified Communications Teams with Business Communications Review to Offer Educational Program in Conjunction with VoiceCon Spring 2007

Foothill Ranch, Calif., February 13, 2007 – Continuing its mission to educate end users on the benefits of unifying communications, Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) has teamed with Business Communications Review to launch a webinar in conjunction with VoiceCon Spring 2007.  The webinar, titled “A VoiceCon Webinar: A Practical Approach to Unified Communications,” will take place at 2:00 p.m. EDT / 11:00 a.m. PDT on February 21, 2007.

According to AVST, a leading provider of advanced unified communications (UC) solutions, the current and evolving state of an organization’s telephony and groupware infrastructure plays a critical part in the UC evaluation process. Many organizations have multiple and potentially conflicting priorities for their infrastructure investments. Given that most enterprises will not be fully IP-enabled, have not migrated their legacy telephony infrastructure, and are dealing with multiple and disparate communications infrastructure (PBX, voice mail, and e-mail) this webinar will provide enterprise customers with a strategy that enables them to deliver productivity enhancing UC applications today.

“As IT administrators consider upgrading or replacing their legacy systems, it is important that they are presented with all of the facts and are aware of all of the different options that are available to them.  By adopting unified communications, companies will realize a tremendous advantage, including increased staff mobility and productivity, and lower costs,” said AVST’s Vice President of Marketing, Denny Michael.  “AVST’s series of webinars in cooperation with BCR have proven to be a successful and effective tool to reach end users with all of the information that they require as they strive to bring the promise and benefits of unified communication to fruition.”

This latest AVST-sponsored webinar will be moderated by Eric Krapf, Co-Chair of VoiceCon and an Editor at Business Communications Review.  Panelists include Hardy Myers, President and CEO of AVST, Blair Pleasant, President and Principal Analyst of COMMfusion LLC.  The webinar will cover the following critical issues:

  • An understanding of Unified Communications and Unified Messaging: what they are, what are the benefits and what the pitfalls are.
  • The replacement of legacy telephony infrastructure, such as Octel® Aria and Serenade®(VMX) , Avaya® INTUITYAUDIX®, and Mitel® NuPoint with Centigram interface voice messaging systems.
  • How to enable companies to transition to IP telephony and the applications typically associated with IP telephony.
  • How to implement Unified Communications with your current telephony & data infrastructure.

Additionally, AVST will be on hand at VoiceCon Spring 2007, located at Booth #535, from March 5-8, 2007 in Orlando, Florida, to further its goal of educating end users about how to unify communications.  Now in its 16th year, VoiceCon is the leading conference and exhibition for enterprise voice, IP telephony and convergence in North America. The conference is a perfect venue for AVST’s mission as it brings decision makers together with the industry's pioneering end users, vendors and consultants to focus on the issues central to enterprise voice networks and the migration to IP telephony and convergence.
