AVST Demonstrates NotifyXpress™ at Annual ACUTA Conference

Benefits of New CallXpress® Add-on for the Education Market Highlighted; CEO Conducts Joint Presentation with California State University, Chico Executive

Foothill Ranch, Calif., July 30, 2007Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) will showcase its CallXpress unified communications platform and will highlight its new broadcast notification add-on to IT professionals from colleges and universities around the world at the 36th Annual ACUTA Conference & Exhibition from July 29 through August 2, 2007 at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Fla at booth #419.

In addition, AVST President and CEO, Hardy Myers, will conduct a joint presentation with Scott Claverie, Director of Communication Services, California State University, Chico, titled “Questions to Ask Before Upgrading Your Messaging Platform.”  Aiming to educate higher education administrators about the options available for upgrading to advanced communications systems, Myers and Claverie will offer simple ways for colleges and universities to evaluate the features and capabilities of unified communications platforms.  They will explore the priorities of different sectors of the campus workforce and suggest a roadmap for the move from legacy first generation systems to second and third generation systems.  The Breakout Session takes place on August 2, 2007 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. ET.

ACUTA, which stands for the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education, is an international non-profit educational association serving colleges and universities.  Representing nearly 2000 individuals at 825 institutions of higher education with members ranging from small schools and community colleges to the 50 largest U.S. institutions, ACUTA’s core purpose is to support higher education institutions in achieving optimal use of communications technologies.

AVST recently introduced NotifyXpress, which enables the recording and delivery of messages to audiences small and large, simply and effectively. Now, campus administrators can deliver tens, hundreds or thousands of personalized outbound phone messages per day to alert and notify staff or students of timely, valuable information.  NotifyXpress was designed specifically for the education industry and is ideal for issuing appointment reminders, emergency message notification, closure announcements and status of services notifications.

According to Denny Michael, AVST’s Vice President of Marketing, “Communications technology is rapidly changing with the integration of voice and data applications, and educational organizations can benefit from the innovative features and capabilities that are offered by second generation solutions.  We have 25 years of experience delivering best in class communications solutions and continue to enhance CallXpress with features like NotifyXpress that provide tremendous value for educational institutions.”

CallXpress delivers world-class call processing, voice messaging, unified messaging, fax, notification and speech-based personal assistance capabilities to help colleges and universities become more productive.  Staff can manage voice, fax and e-mail messages from any location at any time—via laptop, telephone, cell phone or the Internet.  In addition, the platform is the ideal solution to replace legacy voice mail systems as well as integrate with the latest IP systems.  CallXpress was developed to offer quick and painless conversions to next generation technology through speedy implementation, simple administration and maintenance, and telephone user interface emulations that are already familiar to users resulting in minimal training.

AVST is a Corporate Affiliate of ACUTA and has been acknowledged for its support of ACUTA’s regional and national events over the last three years.  As part of its higher education awareness initiative, AVST also periodically teams with Campus Technology, the only monthly publication focusing exclusively on the use of technology across all areas of higher education, to deliver webinars on the availability, options and benefits of unified communications for the education marketplace.

AVST will host its first CallXpress User Group Meeting at ACUTA on Tuesday, July 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET in conference room 220. Open to all AVST education-based customers, the meeting allows end users to share best practices and tips for implementing CallXpress and provides AVST an opportunity to discuss product functionality with its valued customers.  For more information on the live event please visit http://www.acuta.org/events/annual_conference/sce07.cfm.
