AVST Showcases Mobility at the ACUTA Winter Seminar 2012

PALM SPRINGS, Calif., January 23, 2012 This week at the 2012 ACUTA Winter Seminar, Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) will demonstrate its newest Unified Communications solution, CallXpress 8.2.  CallXpress 8.2 expands workforce mobility by enabling smartphone users to manage both personal and business communications on a single device, while ensuring the security of their business data.  AVST will be at booth 103 at the Renaissance Esmeralda in Palm Springs, Calif. from January 22 25 to demonstrate how organizations can stay connected and increase productivity.

The consumerization of IT is a growing trend, as faculty and staff are looking to use their personal mobile devices at work and school - and these users have a strong desire to separate personal and business communications, while also expecting full access to campus communications.  AVST designed CallXpress with these desires in mind, and is able to support mobile users as effectively as users that are at a desk. To keep faculty and staff connected while on the move, CallXpress offers a variety of mobile-friendly features including unified messaging, personal assistant, AVST Mobile client, hands-free speech interface, single number reach, mobile number protection, and notification.

AVST delivers the industry's most interoperable UC platform that supports all major PBX brands, e-mail systems and business applications. With more than 1,000 educational institutions as customers, AVST understands that today's Unified Communications (UC) landscape is made up of multiple technologies from multiple vendors, which were acquired slowly over time and never intended to work together.

"Providing the higher education market with the industry's most interoperable UC platform sets us apart from other vendors," noted Denny Michael, Vice President of Marketing for AVST. "The elastic and open nature of our UC platform enables organizations to extend the value of their existing IT investments, while modernizing their communication landscape with applications that deliver mobility and improve business processes."

ACUTA, which stands for the Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education, is an international non-profit educational association serving colleges and universities.  Representing over 1,700 individuals at nearly 750 institutions of higher education with members ranging from small schools and community colleges to the 50 largest U.S. institutions, ACUTA's core purpose is to support higher education institutions in achieving optimal use of communications technologies.

AVST is a corporate affiliate of ACUTA and has been acknowledged for its support of ACUTA's regional and national events over the last six years.  For more information about AVST's products for the higher education marketplace, please visit the company's website at www.avst.com
