Active Voice Adds Speech Capabilities to its Repartee® for Windows® 2000 Unified Communications Solution
New Product Version Offers Speech Recognition, Text-to-Speech, Lotus Notes Integration, and Increased Scalability
“By incorporating state-of-the-art speech technologies into our Repartee UC product, we are giving our customers a unified communications solution that supports accessibility in a convenient way,” said Mike Prescott, Active Voice’s vice president of marketing and services. “Using speech recognition and text-to-speech will allow people to have full access and control of their Repartee UC mailbox whether they are working from the office or from the road. By integrating affordable speech technologies into our products, we are able to help deliver improved worker productivity, higher efficiency and better customer service.”
The latest version of the Repartee UC product supports Nuance® 8.0 speech recognition functionality. By speaking simple commands into any telephone, subscribers can navigate their voice mailbox and change personal options, such as message notification and playback options. Instead of struggling for the DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) buttons on a mobile phone or memorizing a set of codes to play a message, subscribers can use simple and intuitive speech commands, such as “play new messages,” to interact with the voice mail system. Repartee UC’s powerful speech recognition package is an excellent solution for businesses with a large sales force or employees that often work from the road.
The latest version of Repartee UC offers text-to-speech functionality for Microsoft® Exchange® and Lotus Notes through the high-quality ScanSoft® RealSpeak™ engine. With text-to-speech functionality, users can access and manage their voice, fax and e-mail messages conveniently from one universal mailbox. For example, users can listen to any e-mail message using text-to-speech conversion, and then record a reply, which is sent either as a voice mail message or an e-mail with a WAV file attachment. In addition, users can reply, redirect, save, and delete e-mail simply by using voice commands or through the touch tone keypad on the telephone, making them more efficient and accessible when away from the office. With Repartee UC’s Text-to-Speech package, users can have 24-hour, two-way access to their Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes e-mail messages without a laptop or modem connection.
The latest version of Repartee UC offers a new ViewMail® for Lotus Notes module that gives users the flexibility to send and receive different types of messages interchangeably from one mailbox. All voice, fax and e-mail messages appear in the Lotus Notes e-mail inbox. Message prioritizing is easy, as it only takes a quick glance to see what types of messages have appeared. Just like they would prioritize an e-mail message, Repartee UC subscribers can select which voice message they want to listen to first. Users can then decide to reply, redirect or archive voice messages for later reference.
New hacker prevention features have been added to increase the security of the Repartee UC system. For example, system administrators can set default security codes for new mailboxes and require new subscribers to set their own security code upon enrollment of the system. In addition to the new feature enhancements, Repartee UC has expanded capacity to 96 ports, making it an ideal solution for large businesses. The new Repartee for Windows 2000 products will be made generally available to customers on September 30, 2003.
