Active Voice Introduces Repartee® Unified Messaging Solution on Linux Platform

Affordable Unified Messaging Available on Stable, Open Platform

Seattle, Washington, USA - March 4, 2003 – Active Voice, LLC, a global provider of unified messaging, computer telephony, and voice messaging solutions, today announced the release of its Repartee® LX unified messaging solution, its newest Repartee offering that operates on the Linux operating system.

Repartee LX is based upon proven software code that is contained in other Active Voice Repartee solutions. Active Voice's Repartee family of products is well-known throughout the world, having been installed in tens of thousands of customer sites across the globe. The company is offering Repartee LX as a next-generation unified messaging solution that benefits small and mid-sized global organizations through Linux's inherent operating efficiencies, user-intuitiveness, ease of installation and maintenance, and price advantage.

"By introducing a version of Repartee on the Linux platform, we are giving our customers one more choice in unified messaging solutions," said Victor Foia, president and chief executive officer of Active Voice. "Repartee LX offers businesses growth potential, stability, and powerful features that ultimately help them work more efficiently. We are offering Repartee LX at very attractive price points that make it easier for our small and mid-sized customers to implement unified messaging."

"As Active Voice continues to establish itself as an innovator in the unified messaging market, it is taking another step forward with its new Repartee LX product," commented Marcel Nienhuis, market analyst for the Radicati Group. "Repartee LX addresses two key barriers which have been holding back potential unified messaging customers - price and platform flexibility. Repartee LX is one of the few solutions that allows the growing population of Linux customers to enjoy unified messaging at a low price point, which is especially attractive to small and medium-sized businesses."

The Repartee LX solution allows users to access and address important communications from a wired or wireless telephone, and from a networked PC. For example, users can manage real-time telephone calls, as well as their voice and e-mail messages visually from their desktop. Mobile workers can access their messages conveniently from remote locations by using enhanced text-to-speech capabilities through the high-quality ScanSoft® RealSpeak™ speech engine. Repartee LX also supports multiple user interfaces, including Active Voice's conversational 1 For Yes, 2 For No® application. Repartee LX offers 16 multilingual prompts, including U.K. English, Dutch, German, Mexican Spanish, and Swedish.

"We are excited to offer Repartee LX to our European customers," said Jeroen Franken, director of sales and marketing for Active Voice BV in the Netherlands. "As more and more businesses are adopting the Linux platform, Repartee LX is perfect for companies that are seeking a stable, full-featured unified messaging solution at a very affordable price.

Repartee LX features system administration enhancements such as networking capabilities, and it supports numerous analog and serial integrations. In addition, improved security measures have been implemented into Repartee LX to help businesses protect their system from outsiders. Web-based system administration, a highly-demanded feature that enables system administrators to modify their Repartee LX system using a Web browser interface, is scheduled to be introduced this summer.

The Repartee LX product is also designed for the hospitality market. It supports PMS (Property Management System) integration and offers support for 17 guest language prompts in a variety of localized languages. "Our Repartee LX solution provides an excellent fit into the lodging industry, where personalized guest services and staff efficiency is a must," added Foia.

Repartee LX supports 2- to 16-ports and is currently available through Active Voice's own dealer channel and international offices in the Netherlands and Australia.
