Active Voice Wins Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award
Seattle, Washington, USA - February 12, 2001 – Active Voice, LLC, a global provider of unified messaging and computer telephony software solutions, today announced that it was selected as the winner of the Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award at the annual Industry Achievement Awards hosted by the WSA (formerly Washington Software Alliance). Active Voice was recognized for its Community Voice Mail project. The WSA's Annual Industry Achievement Awards celebrate Washington state companies and agencies that demonstrate excellence and innovation in the technology industry.

Community Voice Mail is a nonprofit program that provides access to voice mail messaging systems for persons out of the economic mainstream. It offers them 24-hour access to telephone messages they might not otherwise receive from potential employers, landlords, case managers and loved ones. Community Voice Mail and Active Voice's Repartee® voice messaging system are the powerful tools that help people conduct their business with professionalism and dignity. More than 10,000 homeless and phoneless Americans use Community Voice Mail everyday to search for jobs and housing, coordinate health and social services, and stay in touch with family and friends. To date, more than 30,000 people have been connected to the service, and nearly 10,000 have found housing and employment. Since its inception in 1991, Community Voice Mail has expanded from Seattle to forty other cities, including one program in Bermuda.
